GBMG is conducting an investigation of Citigroup’s (Smith Barney and Solomon Smith Barney) sale of a series of investment products called the MAT Funds (MAT One, MAT Two, MAT Three, MAT Four, MAT Five, ASTA and Municipal Opportunity Fund). The MAT funds were marketed to municipal bond investors and people who held substantial money market reserves. Citigroup told investors that the funds had very little risk and that they acted like a municipal bond fund. In fact, the MAT funds were highly leveraged municipal bond arbitrage funds. The funds were poorly designed and doomed to fail. In 2007 and 2008, the MAT funds collapsed and many investors lost as much as 70% of their investment. GBMG is representing investors that lost money in the MAT Funds. If you have information that you think might be helpful or if you were a MAT investor, please call Matt Bartle at 816-256-4614 or send an email to mbartle@gbmglaw.com
