Cheryl Wicks

Cheryl Hughes Wicks has more than twenty years in the legal field. Ms. Wicks was born and raised in New Jersey. She attended Smith College and graduated cum laude with a degree in economics. Ms. Wicks received her law degree from the New York University School of Law. During law school, she clerked for Judge Irving Ben Cooper in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. She was involved in projects concerning battered women, and mentored elementary school students in Harlem.

After graduating from NYU, Cheryl worked for several years as an associate with Chadbourne & Parke in New York City. Her practice areas included environmental law, insurance and reinsurance coverage, intellectual property, and products liability litigation. She later moved to Iowa, where she worked primarily with the Los Angeles-based company LRN, a legal ethics and compliance company. During her nearly 13 years with LRN, she researched and wrote over 200 memoranda (including many 50-state surveys), draft briefs, and corporate handbooks on a wide variety of legal issues in several areas, including employment law, contracts, commercial law, torts, environmental law, insurance, and health law.

Ms. Wicks presently lives in Leawood, Kansas with her husband Jim, who is also an attorney.
